The Komoka Kings are pleased to announce the hiring of Franco Sproviero as an assistant coach.
Franco comes in with a terrific amount of playing experience. He began his junior career with the Lambton Shores Predators, who relocated to Komoka in 2017, and played in 90 games as a defenceman with the Predators over two seasons, collecting 15 goals and an even 100 points. In the 2016-2017 season, Sproviero moved up to the Sarnia Sting of the OHL, where he would remain until the conclusion of the 2018-2019 season. Over that time, he netted 46 goals and 132 points in 196 games as a forward in the OHL.
Following his junior career, he went to the University of Western Ontario, where he played 3 seasons with the Men’s Hockey Team. In those three years, playing 64 games, Sproviero scored 30 goals and 78 total points. At the conclusion of his final season at Western, Sproviero joined the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL, where he played in eight games, scoring one goal.
While this is Sproviero’s first experience behind a bench, the Sarnia, ON native has been running Spro Skills Hockey Development in his hometown for the past four years, helping countless players grow their games thanks to his training.
Franco is eager to return to the Kings organization to join Rumun Ndur’s coaching staff, as he stated: “It’s exciting to be coming back to the organization, and I am looking forward to the upcoming season!”
Komoka Kings President and GM, Roop Chanderdat, echoed that sentiment, saying: “It’s great to see one of our players return as a Coach. Spro is a good role model for all our players. He will be a great addition to our current Coaching Staff and will be a good compliment to both Rumun and Matt.”
The Kings look forward to a return to form in the upcoming 2023-2024 season.
