The Komoka Kings are pleased to announce that the club has acquired forwards Ben Funston and Gavin Hern from the Strathroy Rockets, in exchange for forward Justin Skirten.
Funston, 17, stands at 5’11/177. He is a Komoka native, and has posted three goals and two assists for five points in 27 games this season. He played his minor hockey with the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks, where in his U18 year he put up a line of 9-8-17 in 35 GP.
Hern, also 17, stands 5’11, weighing in at 148 pounds and has played in 17 games this season, putting up four goals and five assists for nine points on the year. Last season, he was a member of the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks U18 squad, where he posted three goals and six assists for nine points.
In exchange for the two forwards, the Kings traded away their captain, Justin Skirten. Skirten had been with the club since the 2022-2023 season. The native of Exeter, ON suited up in 125 games as a King, placing him third all-time since the move to Komoka. Skirten was named captain last year, in December, upon a midseason trade. In his time in Komoka, he posted 29 goals and 22 assists for 51 points.
The Kings would like to welcome Gavin and Ben to the organization, and thank Justin for his contributions to the team over the past three seasons.
