Kings Acquire van de Ven, Huygen, Doyle in Blockbuster with Stars

The Komoka Kings are pleased to announce that the team has acquired the 2006-born defenceman, Owen van de Ven, 2004-born forward, Seth Huygen, and 2004-born defenceman, Jackson Doyle from the St. Thomas Stars. In exchange, the Kings sent 2003-born forward, and Kings captain, Adam Zuckerman, and 2003-born defenceman, Judd Katz to St. Thomas. 

 

van de Ven stands 6’1, weighing in at 170 pounds, hailing from Delaware, ON, just outside of Komoka. He was a 2022 9th round pick of the Peterborough Petes in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, and spent last season with the Peterborough U18 Petes AAA squad. This year, with the Stars, Owen has put up an impressive 2 goals and 19 assists for 21 points in 27 games. This point total has him 7th in scoring among all defencemen, and 3rd among rookie blueliners. 

 

Huygen is 6’4, 193 pounds, from Mitchell, ON. The 19-year old forward is in his second GOJHL season as he arrives from St. Thomas. Last year, splitting his time between the Stratford Warriors and the Stars, he put up a combined 15 points in 37 games. This year, Seth has accumulated 9 points in 21 games played. 

 

Doyle stands 5’10, 150 pounds, and was born in Belle River, ON. He spent the two seasons prior to this one with the French River Rapids of the NOJHL, before joining St. Thomas this season. In 16 games this year, Doyle has put up 2 goals. 

 

The Kings look forward to seeing the impacts of Owen, Seth, and Jackson in the lineup this season. 

 

The Komoka Kings would also like to send a big thank you to Adam Zuckerman and Judd Katz, for their time with the Kings. Zuckerman joined the team in the 2021-2022 season, and has put up 86 points in 114 games since then, being named captain this year. Katz signed in Komoka last season, and since that time, the blueliner notched 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points in 64 games.
