The Komoka Kings are proud to announce their leadership group for the 2024-2025 season.
This group is led by Justin Skirten, who enters his second season (first full year) as captain of the club. He was given the ‘C’ near the midway point of the 2023-2024 campaign. Overall, Skirten enters his third season in Komoka, having played 99 games, posting 26 goals and 17 assists for 43 points in that span. Skirten has also played in all situations for the Kings, both on the power play and the penalty kill, never shying away from physical play.
Joining Skirten is assistant captain Trent Walker. Walker is entering his second season in Komoka, and will wear the ‘A’ for the first time. Always a steady, reliable presence on the back end, Walker played 41 games and put up 4 assists last year. Walker never shies away from involving in the community, and shuts things down on the back end.
Additionally, newly-acquired Alex Akena will wear an ‘A’ this year, as assistant captain. Akena, who was acquired via trade from the Sarnia Legionnaires in the offseason, is entering his second season in the GOJHL. The 19-year old forward also has the ability to play the back end. Always a positive presence, he played 37 games last year, scoring five goals and adding three assists for eight points.
Third year forward Seth Huygen will also serve as an assistant captain in 2024-2025. Huygen, who is a 20-year old forward, enters this year having played 71 total games across three seasons. Huygen was acquired from St. Thomas last year in a December blockbuster, and put up four goals and one assist for five points in 10 games as a King. In his career, Huygen has 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points.
Lastly, Jagan Chanderdat will be part of the 2024-2025 leadership group. Chanderdat enters his third season in the GOJHL, with 109 games played in the league. The 18-year old forward has played in all situations for Komoka, posting 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points coming into this year.
The Kings are proud to have these five men leading the group both on and off the ice this season.
