Kings Add Two New Assistant Captains

The Komoka Kings are pleased to announce that the club has added Jagan Chanderdat and Riley Alexander as new assistant captains in its leadership group for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season.

Chanderdat is in his third full season in the league, and is already the franchise’s all-time games played leader since the move to Komoka in 2017 (at 141 and counting). This year, he has set career highs in assists (11) and points (17), while being one goal shy of matching his career high in that category as well. Chanderdat was named to the leadership group at the beginning of the season, but will now receive an A on his jersey for the duration of the 24-25 campaign.

Kings Head Coach Rumun Ndur said of Chanderdat: “He’s in his third season in the league and he’s been around hockey his whole life, so it was a natural fit.”

Alexander is in his second season with the Kings, after signing with them last season as a 17 year old. Alexander has been a hard-hitting stalwart on the back end since the moment he signed, growing his game over the past two seasons. In his career in Komoka, he has played 77 games, putting up five goals and eight assists for thirteen points.

On naming Alexander an assistant captain, Ndur said: “Riley is just a warrior. He competes so hard. He doesn’t say a whole lot but he leads by example out there, so I wanted to reward him for that.”

The two players join Alex Akena and Trent Walker, who both remain in the leadership group as assistant captains.

Ndur hopes this newly-updated group leads to positive change on the team: “We’ve changed the room. Those guys have been around, they saw it go bad. The onus is on them to make sure it doesn’t go bad again.”

The Kings are back in action, looking for their first win of 2025, on Friday in St. Thomas. Saturday night, they return to home ice at the Wellness Centre, as they face off with the Chatham Maroons, with puck dropping at 7:15pm.
