Crocker Named Kings Captain

The Komoka Kings are pleased to announce that 2002-born defenceman Chris Crocker has been named the captain of the team for the upcoming season.

Crocker is a Toronto, ON native who has plenty of experience under his belt. Spending his minor hockey days with the Toronto Nationals and Markham Majors AAA organisations, Chris was a U18 Draft Choice of the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL.

Attending Western University in the 2021-2022 year, Crocker signed in Komoka to join the back end and the fit was an instant success. Using his good speed and hockey IQ to make plays at both ends of the ice, he drove plays in the offensive zone and was a calming presence in his own end.

This made him a reliable defender for Kings head coach Adam Casey, who noticed Crocker’s leadership and turned to him in many big moments last season. On naming Crocker captain, Casey said: “We’re a young group, and Crocks [Chris Crocker] is the perfect guy to lead and mentor these players. He’s a mature young man who has the respect of all of his teammates through his leadership and work ethic. The Kings are very fortunate to have him as our captain.”

Casey wasn’t the only one who took note of Crocker’s on and off-ice talent, as Kings President and GM Roop Chanderdat said “Crocker is a good fit to wear the C and lead our team.  He is a very good player that leaves it all on the ice and always goes about his work at the rink in a professional manner.  He is also a good role model for all our young guys in the way he manages to combine both his school work at University and his commitment to the Kings team.  We are proud to have Crocks [Chris Crocker] represent our organisation both on and off the ice.”

As for Crocker, he could not be more excited to receive this honour from the Kings. Voice of the Kings, Dylan Baker, interviewed him on the Kings offseason show, Kings Connected, where he is quoted as saying “It’s an honour. All I can say is I really appreciate the management staff for giving me this opportunity. It’s a great organisation and I think we are going to have a great year this year.” Crocker went on to say that when Kings President and GM Roop Chanderdat gave him the news, he was thrilled.
