After the signing event on Monday, the Komoka Kings have announced their first eight signings of the 2020 offseason. Coming out of the event, the Kings have added three new defencemen, four new forwards and one new goalie.

Beginning with the forwards, the Kings signed Matson Micallef. The Komoka resident posted 11 goals and 7 assists for 18 points with the London Junior Knights AAA Major Midget team. In his two seasons at that level he posted a combined 36 points, playing a game as an AP with the London Nationals in 2019-2020. The Kings signed forward Alex MacLeod. Alex posted a 9-17-26 line with the AAA Midget Junior Knights last season, wrapping up his 18U tenure with a combined 40 points.

Next, the organization inked Tristan Wilcox. Wilcox spent time with the AAA Major Midget Junior Knights the past two seasons, posting 47 points in 66 games at that level. The final forward the team signed was Matt Gough. Fans may recognize the name, as he spent time with the Kings as an AP last season in 10 games, posting two goals, two assists and four points. Wrapping up the season with the AAA Midget Junior Knights, Gough was a point-per-game player, with 28 points in as many games.

The team also added three new defenceman on Monday, two of which came from the London Junior Knights AAA Major Midget team. Beginning with an AP from last season, Josh Tidgwell signed with the team. The six-foot-three defenceman put up eight points with the AAA Midget Junior Knights and played seven games with the Kings, playing solidly on the back end. The second defenceman from the same Junior Knights team is Chris Coulter. Coulter, born in 2003, had six points last season. The final defenceman signed was Caleb Haalstra, coming from the Brantford 99ers AAA Midget team. Last season, Haalstra posted four goals and six assists. The ’03 defenceman also played in 10 games as an AP with the Aylmer Spitfires of the PJHL.

The club rounded out the new players on Monday by signing Omar Hage. Hage played a preseason game with the Kings last season, but completed his campaign with the London Junior Knights AAA Major Midget team. The 26th overall pick in the 2020 OHL U18 Draft by the Hamilton Bulldogs, Omar led the Alliance midget loop in GAA, with a 1.43 stat in that column.

The new players will be, or have been featured on Kings Connected, available on the Komoka Kings YouTube channel, which can be found at bit.do/komokakings.

Fans have reason to stay tuned, as more signings are expected to be announced in the coming days.
